Shadow & Light is an external edit of ElvUI, which means it doesn't change ElvUI's files directly. What does this mean to you? It means that any time ElvUI gets updated, you will not have to worry about it overwriting our edited version of ElvUI.
Hello guys i have elvui v 5.32 right now and it wasnt buggy till the 5.2 patch... now apparently, the new version is 5.47. Is there a way to install the new version without losing any of my settings, cuz it took me like 3 hours to set it up to be perfect. Thx for your help.
- As with the ElvUI version the link will automatically include any changes that are made, so it is a good idea to update with that link before you start a BfA gaming session. 4 replies 2 retweets 14 likes.
- The ElvUI logo has been updated with design by RZ_Digital. The default color in ElvUI has been changed to match the new logo. Disabled 'Text Toggle on NPC' by default, as it caused confusion for new players.
This is something to ask on ElvUI forums:

if you find out, i'd love to know, too. : (
Hi,
I'm sortokk, a moderator at tukui.org. ElvUI should not wipe your settings by updating from 5.32 to 5.47. I would backup your SavedVariables just in case. He did change some profile settings, but he did that so he wouldn't have to wipe everything.

It only occasionally wipes your settings, and if it's going to wipe your settings they tell you in the changelog. The current updates do not wipe settings.
thank you!
I have absolutely no idea how to patch ElvUI... Like where do I put the patch folder?
You can go to the tukui.org website and download the Tuk client! This works for both Tuk UI and Elv UI in the updating of their work and also being able to browse for addons that work along side them. All you need to do is download it, install and it will detect which version you currently have and inform you if you have an out of date or up to date version. Just one click and you're good to go! Good luck!
Well this was unhelpful. By just putting the new folders into the addon folder will current settings be retained?
Yep, just dragged the two files over the Add On folder... it asked to replace and I said yes to all. Installed and kept settings.
Only if you use the in game configuration yes, if you edit the .lua files anytime you update Elv you'll need to reapply your edits.
Elvui Update Client
Also I think some of this came up when they did a large new build, pretty sure I recall something like that listed on the Elv/Tuk site.
if you are worried about losing elvui settings:
1. backup whole 'WTF' folder located in 'C:Program Files (x86)World of Warcraft'
2. install elvui or just update it whatever the case is..
3. replace 'WTF' folder after update with backup you created.
this will ensure that all settings from all add ons will remain the same, and works if you have to reinstall windows or have a serious problem that causes you to lose data for some reason. its important to back this file up once in a while, and I just add it to skydrive sync so its backed up daily with other files that are important to me.

Just get Curse and update all the addons using that

ElvUI is not hosted on curse anymroe as far as I'm aware
Also tukui.org now has it's own client tht will update tukui/elvui without losing settings that are adjusted in game.
Also bad necro is bad

So, I wanted to download ElvUI, and I'm not entirely sure how to do this, since I've been used to Curse doing all the work for me.
I can't download the client that Tukui offers because I'm on a Mac.
So I downloaded the file and unzipped it, and I get a folder called elvui-5.99, inside which there are two folders: ElvUI and ElvUI_Config.
I dragged the elvui-5.99 inside the AddOns folder in my WoW Interface, but when I open the game, the add-on doesn't appear in the list of add-ons. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

You've dragged the wrong folder in to your AddOns folder.
I'm betting all you want to do is drag ElvUI and ElvUI_Config in to your AddOns folder.

Okay, new problem.
I did what you said, and it worked perfectly.
But then I opened my Curse Client and I saw that the ElvUI appeared there, and it said that it was out of date, so I updated it and now it doesn't work.
Do I have to re-install the whole ElvUI?

ElvUI is not being posted on curse anymore so I am not sure why you're using curse client to update it. You need to get latest versions of ElvUI from their own website and install it manually, as Unkle outlined.
im having the same problem. i know im doing everything right evlui and evlui_config are in my addons folder, but i still launch the game and nothing happens.
^ I'm having the same issue, how to resolve this?

Do they show up in the character selection screen AddOn menu? If not, you didn't installed them properly.
The way it needs to be is this:
World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons
Inside there you should have the ElvUI and ElvUI_Config files
Then launch your game and go to your character selection screen. In the bottom left hand corner hit addons. Make sure that ElvUI is listed there and checked. If it says it is out of date, check for an update. If no update to the addon is available then go back to that addon list and check the box that says 'Load out of Date addons'.

curse does't support ellvui anymore?
I never used Elv b4 but was considering it
curse does't support ellvui anymore?
The ElvUI guys stopped uploading it to Curse several years ago. They host it on their own website now, presumably to make it easier to get donations and ad revenue.

Also hosting on those web sites can sometimes be problematic, approval processes etc...also the TukUI web site is much more dynamic, Tuk and Elv have both been hacked and whole new UIs have been created for them and their own site hosting them is much more reasonable.

osted on curse anymore so I am not sure why you're using curse client to update it. You need to get lates
so i downloaded Elvui, and the elv chat box isnt there, just an empty box but i still have my norm WoW chat box there, anyone any clues?
Bit necro.. but hey. Skimmed all the replies and it doesn't look like it is mentioned.
I use curse for all my normal addons and have WoWMatrix take care of ONLY elvUI. It is a tiny bit easier than having to go to their website, download and extract. Find the folder. All that. I don't really enjoy WoWMatrix, but it's better than having to go through the extracting process every time elvUI is updated. lol

You can use the Tukui Client to update your ElvUI. Sorry, but it's a Window's only application.

It's on the bottom of the page.
With WoWMatrix using out-of-date addons, don't you have a problem with your ElvUI being up-to-date?

ok how do i fix elvui config not found
Check your AddOns folder to see if it is there. If it is not, install Elv UI again.
Thank you and the post stating the fact Elvui no longer uploads to curse because they have their own site to DL from. Would it be possible to get a direct link/address to their site do DL directly? thanks.
Sure.
http://www.tukui.org/dl.phpYou can, also, use the TukUI client to install ElvUI. It's on the bottom of that page. You have to be a member, I believe, to install the Client though. Becoming a member is FREE!!! Sorry, but the Client is currently a Window's only application. The site address:
